I was really inspired musically in the 80s from movies like The Breakfast Club which featured one of my favorite songs - “Don’t You Forget About Me” by Simple Minds
and Fast Times at Ridgemont High which featured the Baltimore classic “Raised on the Radio.”
My premier 80s experience had to be attending Live Aid at JFK in Philadelphia in July 1985. It was “TOTALLY AWESOME!” I got there at 6AM and left after
midnight…18 hours of continuous 80s music. Every top act at the time was
there: Phil Collins, The Cars, Tom Petty, REO Speedwagon, Madonna, Bryan Adams, Simple Minds, The Pretenders, Duran Duran, etc.
I can’t remember but I was probably wearing my best 80s garb that day: my cut off Adidas T-shirt, my skin-tight crotch-high jeans shorts that exposed almost too
much, my knee-high tube socks, and my Adidas tennis shoes.
Oh come on…everybody was wearing that style back then!
I was most influenced by Stewart Copeland and Neil Peart. One of my musical highlights was performing on the 98 Rock Album Vol. 3 with the band Crystal Skies and
hearing our song played daily on 98 Rock.
